What’s been happening:

I worked for ten years at the University of Maryland, doing landscaping, tree work, running a tree nursery, and training. I also did graduate work in Ornamental Horticulture (ABT). I taught a course in Arboriculture at the Institute of Applied Agriculture on campus for several years. In 1989, I took a job with Guardian Tree Experts in Northern Virginia and worked in private industry for a little over a year supervising spray operations, doing sales and consulting. I then worked ten years as urban forester for Arlington County, Virginia. Was active in the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA). Also was on the board of the Virginia Urban Forest Council, and did some public speaking at educational conferences. I moved to Eugene, Oregon in February 1999 to take the job as Urban Forester. Met with my first tree sitters a couple months after moving, and got my introduction to left coast urban forestry real quick. I've worked in my spare time with Oregon Community Trees, the statewide urban forestry council, and with the PNW chapter of ISA. I enjoy singing with a couple of a cappella groups and the Eugene Symphony Chorus. Eugene is a great place to live. Very mild weather during the winter, low humidity, cool summer nights. Meeting brother Rick ('71, P.E.) for a P.S.U. football game and my 40th S.C.A.H.S. reunion this October.
